Plan for front cover of my music magazine

My Cover will have the colour scheme black white and gold. Although I have not added colour to my sketch, My model is will be wearing all black, with a gold ring on. The Master head will be either black or gold. The background will be black, with white sell lines and for the sell line about the double page spread and feature artist will be in gold. A lot of the text that will be on my cover will use simplistic language and slang, as this will appeal to my target market. To show that it relates to them and links to their lives.

My Cover Sketch

The reason for this is that in majority of the R&B and Hip-Hop magazines i have researched had the colour scheme gold black and white or Red black and white. Or red black white and gold. Due to this cyclical theme, I chose to use the scheme that my target market liked:

As shown by the graph my target market chose black, gold and white. This is why I will be using these colours in my magazine. As it is what my audience want.

My model will be looking into the camera, to break down the 4th wall and entice my audience. My model will be posing with his hand on his face to show his a thinker and that he has confidence in himself.
As you can see his hair makes him look thuggish and relatable to the target market of adolescence, as he looks like his from a working class background, which majority of my target market will likely be. He looks youngish and looks as if he is from 'the ends' such as hackney, Tottenham and so on. This may help my audience connect with the magazine more. Compared to me placing a 30 year old man, who is dressed in a suit, who looks like he is from a middle class background with a high class job.

The name of my cover artist will be 'J-Quik' this is because J resembles his name and 'Quik' means fast, witty man. Which will link to the fact his a rap artist, so raps fast and is witty with his raps. The album name he which will be promoted on the cover will be 'Imperial' this is due to most rap artist feeling that they are part of a secluded empire, that is apart from the rest of the world. As many youths grow up they can also feel this way, that only youths understand youths. So creating an album based an empire may make them feel apart of the rap empire, thus relating to my target market on a level.

The name for my double page spread artists will be 'Subliminal' as it is defined as: (of a stimulus or mental process) below the threshold of sensation or consciousness; perceived by or affecting someone's mind without them being aware of it. This again link to the type of power their music will have on the listeners.

As my sketch shows the barcode, price, date and the issue number will be clearly shown. As most magazines try to hide this feature. But i feel that making it clear will be beneficial to the consumer as they don't have to go all the way to the till to find out the price of the magazine.

The title of my magazine will also be bold as i want the customers to clearly see the magazine name, as that can be advertisement in itself and also once people see the name more frequently they will be able to make links and hopefully become more interested in the magazine as they see online adverts of the website and also social media sites, such as youtube, Vimeo, Snapchat, Facebook, twitter etc.
